Ophthalmologist and Optometrist

Eye Clinic & Laser Institute (Est. 1980) is seeking comprehensive/general Ophthalmologists and Optometrists with a Florida License to work with our group and subsequently take over for a retiring doctor. These employment opportunities can lead to an ownership position with the group. We are a progressive practice with state-of-the-art offices and a surgical center.


The Ophthalmologist will deliver full-scope ophthalmology including the treatment of eye diseases and surgical co-management opportunities. You will be given the opportunity to perform cataract surgery in your first year at our on-site Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC).

 

The Optometrist position allows for a hardworking and dedicated clinician to practice full scope optometry which includes the treatment of eye diseases, foreign body removal, as well as prescribing eyeglasses and contact lenses.

Ophthalmic Technician

Our Ophthalmic Technicians assist in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.


The ophthalmic tech interviews patients and records information in the patient charts, prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients and completes any necessary testing for the patients.


Must be a team player with strong communication skills and have the ability to work under pressure as well as a multitasker.

Receptionist

The Receptionist is the face of our practice. We look for warm, compassionate professionals who posses excellent communication skills and a sunny disposition.


The receptionist is responsible for patient check-in and check-out while treating all patients in a professional and courteous manner.


Responsibilities also include:

 

  • Reviewing patient charts for all necessary information and signatures.

  • Entering new patient information into EClinical.

  • Ensuring that all patients feel welcome to the practice and continues to return in order to receive top quality health care treatment.

  • Answering the telephone in an enthusiastic, courteous and professional manner.

  • Rerouting calls to the appropriate personnel.

  • Scheduling appointments.

  • Collect all pertinent information from patient (insurance and demographics) and enter in computer.


  • Reschedule and cancel appointments as necessary.
     
  • Keep active cancellation list, update recalls, verify insurances and confirm appointments.

Nurse Manager

The Ambulatory Surgical Center Nurse Manager oversees all aspects of nursing services in our  outpatient specialty surgery center. The Nurse Manager leads and supervises all staff involved in providing outpatient surgery, including Pre-Op, ORs, and PACU.


Responsibilities include staff supervision, training and recruiting, ensuring adequate supply and condition of materials and equipment, along with environmental control. Maintaining current Credentialing and License requirements as well as required reporting to government and independent agencies.


In order to be considered, one must be a Registered Nurse (RN) with a current, unencumbered Florida State License and current ACLS and BLS certifications. Supervisory/management experience in an Operating Room is required, ambulatory surgical is preferred. Recent work history with OR specialties such as Ophthalmology and Plastic Surgery is advantageous but not required.


Salary based on experience.

Trained Surgical Technician

Our Surgical Technologists assist in surgical operations under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel. Surgical technologists are members of operating room teams, which most commonly include surgeons, anesthesiologists, and circulating nurses.

 

Essential Functions Include (but are not limited to):


 

  • Prepares and maintains medical equipment for surgical procedures.

 

  • Before an operation, surgical technologists help prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions.

 

  • Follows hospital regulations and industry procedures to tend to patient during pre-operation procedures.

 

  • Performs pre-operation preparations to the patient's skin, body and medical equipment.

 

  • Assemble both sterile and non-sterile equipment, as well as adjust and check it to ensure it is working properly.

 

  • Get patients ready for surgery by washing, shaving, and disinfecting incision sites.

 

  • Transport patients to the operating room, help position them on the operating table, and cover them with sterile surgical “drapes.”

 

  • Observe patients’ vital signs, check charts, and assist the surgical team with putting on sterile gowns and gloves.

 

  • Pass instruments and other sterile supplies to surgeons and surgeon assistants.

 

  • Hold retractors, cut sutures, and help count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments. Help prepare, care for, and dispose of specimens taken for laboratory analysis and help apply dressings.

 

  • Operate sterilizers, lights, or suction machines, and help operate diagnostic equipment.

 

  • After an operation, help transfer patients to the recovery room and clean and restock the operating room.

 


  • Learn More:

    Education/Experience Requirements:

    • A graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program.
    • Must be certified to perform CPR with 0-2 years of clinical experience in a related field.

    Physical/Mental Demands:

    • Surgical technologists work in clean, well-lighted, cool environments. 
    • Must stand for long periods and remain alert during operations. 
    • Ability to be on your feet for long periods and lift or turn disabled patients.
    • Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment.
    • Ability to concentrate for periods of up to four hours
    • Ability to communicate verbally both in person and on the telephone.
    • Ability to use computer keyboard and to view a computer monitor
    • At times may be exposed to communicable diseases and unpleasant sights, odors, and materials.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    • Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients in the center.
    • Must demonstrate the knowledge of the principle of growth and development of the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s requirements relative to his/her age specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the center’s policies and procedures.
    • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills in the nursing process.
    • Demonstrates the ability to utilize recognized channels of communication.
    • Demonstrates the ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships with patients, co-workers, and other health team members.

    Environmental/Working Conditions: 

    • Normal busy office environment with much telephone work.
    • Clean, well-lighted, cool environments.
